Abstract

634,335. Electric motors. REMINGTON RAND, Inc. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 21842. Convention date, June 27, 1942. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVII] In an interrupter-type motor having windings 12, 13 to allow both high and low voltage operation, both windings are connected in series with a contact-breaker 9 operated by the rotor and shunted by a condenser 30, the high voltage winding 13 being shunted by a protective resistance 23. The connections are brought out to a 3-pin plug 18 for engagement by either of a pair of sockets 71 or 76, each connected by a lead to a power supply, the sockets being arranged so that connection to a supply of wrong voltage is impossible. An interference suppressor condenser 31 is connected across both coils in series. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the contacts 9 may be mounted on bimetallic springs so that the circuit is opened if an excessive voltage is applied to the machine. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
