Abstract

634,302. Spray carburetters. DAVIES, L. March 4, 1946, No. 6658. [Class 7 (iii)] In a carburetter having one or more paddle wheels 6 mixing the air and fuel spray, the fuel is sprayed into an atomizing chamber 8 containing a paddle wheel 14, and the atomized fuel enters the carburetter mixing chamber through pipes 1 and 50. A fuel tank 12, Fig. 2 is connected by a pipe 38b, having a non-return valve 38a and control valve 37a, to a compresser cylinder 13, the pressure in the tank 12 being measured by a gauge 37. The fuel delivery pipe 11 from tank 12 to a spray nozzle 10 in the chamber 8 has a cock 27 controlled conjointly by a rod 24 with a throttle valve 29 and an air control valve 5. A weighted flap valve 4 and an adjustable spring loaded valve 20 also control the air intake and air filtering screens are provided between the flanges 32, 34 and 35, 36. The pressure pipe 38 is connected through a non-return valve 53 to the chamber 8 to assist in rotating the wheel 14 and ait enters the chamber 8 through a pipe 49. In a modifi. cation the fuel from tank 12 flows to a float chamber fixed to the side of chamber 8 and is delivered to the top of this chamber, the pipe 38 having a branch connected to the fuel pipe leading from the float chamber to the chamber 8.
