633,782. Electrolytic production of hydrogen peroxide. ALCOCK, H. E. July 22, 1947, No. 19648. [Class 41] A process for the electrolytic production of hydrogen peroxide involves the addition to an electrolyte containing ammonium sulphate and sulphuric acid of one or more other soluble sulphates, the cationic portions of which give rise to persulphates which together with ammonium persulphate and persulphuric acid form a system with a higher saturation concentration of total persulphate than is possible in systems involving merely ammonium persulphate and persulphuric acid. The sulphates to be added may consist one or more of the substances : sodium sulphate, sodium bisulphate, lithium sulphate, magnesium sulphate, and zinc sulphate. The solution after electrolysis is subjected to vacuum distillation for the production of the hydrogen peroxide.
