Abstract
Hydrogen is produced by the electrolysis of an electrolyte, the hydrogen being collected at a cathode formed of a palladium-silver alloy through which the hydrogen diffuses in a pure state. The alloy preferably contains 25% silver and the cathode may be in the form of a diaphragm or a tube. The electrolyte is preferably a 1% sulphuric acid electrolyte, the operating temperature 80 DEG C. and the current density 0.05 amp. per sq.cm.
