[Class 16] A duplicate-writing appliance comprising a base or holder 1 constructed for carrying one or more record sheets or cards 3 is provided with means for holding a duplicate sheet or card 12 in register with the record sheets 3 while entries are being made on them, such means further being capable of stepwise movement on the base 1 to register the duplicate sheet 12 and record sheets 3 with one another in different positions. Posts 2 engage with perforations in the record sheets 3 and a hinged clamp member 14 secures the sheets. The clamp member 14 may be toothed at 17 and be loaded by means of springs 18 coiled about the hinge pin having ends 19 bearing on the members 14, 16. A slider 6, movable along a U-section track member 4 on the opposite edge of the base, is of U-section and has a leaf spring riveted to it and the spring is pipped so that it may click into the perforations 5. The slider is also provided with upstanding posts 11 which engage the slots 13 in the duplicate sheets. Carbon paper may be used for the duplicating or the sheets may be carbonised on the back as at 22. A case 23 of leather, plastic, or other flexible material is preferably supplied, secured in the closed position by a press-button or similar fastening and it may have the base plate secured to it by rivets 24 thus forming a pocket. When the record sheet has been completed it may be turned back, and folded beneath the base plate together with the flexible case. The sheets may be perforated down both their edges so that both sides may be used. An insert plate 34 of thin hard material may be placed beneath the uppermost record sheet 3. In a modification the record sheets are mounted on a slider similar to the slider 6 which may move stepwise along the edge of the base plate or intermediately between the edges.
