Abstract
805,686. Loose leaf binders. BACKEMARK, E. A. March 18, 1957 [March 20, 1956], No. 8802/57. Class 146(1) The prongs 9 of a loose leaf binder pass through rigid projections 11 on the covers 1 and are mounted on hingedly connec ted members 8 which operate against the spring action of the limbs 7 of a channel- -section bar 6 to oper the prongs 9 for in sertion or removal of sheets, the bar 6 having flexible strips 5 clamped between its base and a mem ber 10, and leaf springs 12 attached to the member 10 and bearing against the back 2 of the binder, the arrangement being such that, when the binder is closed (Fig. 2) the leaf carrying mechanism is substantially located within the back 2 but on opening of the binder (Fig. 3) the mechanism is moved at least partly out of the back 2. The projections 11 conceal the mechanism while the binder is open and, on closing, assist in returning the mechanism to the back 2.
