Abstract

755,953. Loose leaf binders. STERLAND, W. D. Aug. 23, 1954 [Aug. 21, 1953], No. 23122/53. Class 146(1) In a loose leaf binder, the leaves 6 are provided with at least one corrugation 7 adjacent and parallel to one edge to rest with each other and with similarly positioned ribs 2 and grooves 4 in the binder covers 1, 3 (Fig. 1). A member of different kinds of binder are described. As shown in Fig. 1, the covers 1, 3 are pulled together by a spring 8 and the top cover 3 is weakened at 5 to form a hinge. Alternatively a C-spring may be used with hinged arms at the ends of the spring for releasing the jaws. As shown in Fig. 5, the sheets 6 are provided with slots 14 between two corrugations 7 and the covers 16, 15 with slots 14 between ribs 2, 2a and grooves 4, 4a respectively, all being filed on a split ring 13, pivoting open to release the sheets. The covers in another construction are provided with posts for engaging holes in the sheets 6. As shown in Fig. 8, the sheets 6 are filed between stiff sheets 24, 25 connected by an extensible back 26 and provided with metal strips 31, 32 secured by adhesive to form ribs and grooves, the whole being inserted in a spring back binder with covers 22, 23 joined to'the ends of a C-spring 21. The sheets 6 may have the cover of the binding edge cut away to assist insertion of the sheet. The corrugations 7 may be provided.in a separate strip secured to the sheet 6 by adhesive or hy tongues engaging holes in the sheet.
