A loose-leaf binder comprises a flat support and a plate pivoted to the support, and filing posts, each filing post comprising two parts carried respectively by the support and plate which parts lie closely adjacent one another in the closed position of the binder, the plate having an edge extending beyond the posts, and resilient means being provided to hold the plate in the closed position. Each post part may be semicircular in section so that in the closed position the post is circular in section. In one form, Fig. 12, the two parts 4<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> of each post 3<SP>1</SP> are attached to members 2, 7<SP>11</SP>, respectively and the member 7<SP>11</SP> is pivoted at 10 to brackets 11 on the member 2. A ridge 33 on the member 7<SP>11</SP> snaps into a groove 34 on the member 2 to hold the posts in closed position. Pins 36 on the member 711 can be engaged with holes 37a in the brackets 11 to hold the posts in partly opened and fully-opened position. The device can be mounted on a cover by means of pins 38 on the member 2 engaging holes in the cover. In other constructions (Figs. I to 4), post parts corressponding to the parts 5<SP>1</SP> are carried by Z-shaped members pivoted to brackets similar to brackets 11, and means such as co-operating pins and holes 36, 37a or an endless elastic band or spring (19, Fig. 3), is provided to hold the L-shaped members in closed or open position. The post parts 51 may be mounted on a flat plate (71, Figs. 5, 6), pivotal about 180‹ from open to closed position. The edge of the member 2 remote from the posts may have a central slot (25, Fig. 7), for engagement with an inverted T-shaped suspension bar, or detachable hookshaped parts may be provided at the ends of the member 2 for engagement with suspension bars.
