[Class 19] A cup-shaped rotary brush comprises a plurality of tuft-holding discs disposed face-toface, each disc having a plurality of tufts of bristles in the circumferential margin thereof and a plurality of projections on both faces circularly disposed in coaxial relation to the centre of the disc, the projections being outwardly directed alternately from opposite faces of the disc and being adapted to register with the outwardly directed projections of the adjacent disc or discs so that the discs are spaced apart sufficiently to permit the radiallydirected ends of the tufts to pass therebetween, a cup-shaped member embracing the assembled tufts from one end face of the discs and deflecting the outer ends of the tufts into a substantially axially extending direction towards the opposite end face of the discs thus to constrain the tufts to a cylindrical or frustoconical cup-shaped form, a tuft-clamping washer or flange disposed at the said opposite end face of the assembled discs and a bearing hub means passing through the respective centres of the cup-shaped member, the tuftholding discs and clamping washer or flange and adapted for clamping the assembly together as a working whole. In the brush shown, two or more wire-tufted discs, the same in form as that illustrated in Fig. 3 of Specification 632,793, are placed face-to-face with their projections in register, the cup-shaped member 8 placed on one end, it having a shoulder 9 to nest with shoulders 7 on the outside disc, and a flange 10 which has a similar nesting shoulder 11 is placed on the other end, the member 8 and flange 10 being secured together by hub member 13, the inner end 15 of which is rolled over.
