Abstract

989,905. Brushes. OSBORN MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 20, 1962 [Oct. 24, 1961], No. 35892/62. Addition to 945,926. Drawings to Specification. Heading A4K. The bristles of a rotary brush pass through an array of discrete elastomeric bodies so that they are resilently supported against deflections from their radial positions. The bodies may be large and irregular (Fig. 1, not shown) or numerous, small, regular and randomly distributed (Figs. 3, 8, 9 and 13, not shown) or equally spaced in a ring or rings concentric with the brush axis (Figs. 10 and 11, not shown). Bodies formed on either side of the brush may overlap (Fig. 2, not shown) or run together through the brush (Figs. 4-7, not shown). The elastomers and bristles may be the same as in the parent Specification with the addition of, for the elastomers, cellular or non-cellular polychloroprene, natural rubber, acrylonitrile, nylon or melamine resins and, for the bristles, a mixture of hard straight wire and soft wire or stainless steel wire having a thin bonded plastic coating.
