[Classes 24 and 44] In a fastener of the type in which a female member has an opening comprising two eyelets of unequal size connected by a narrow slot, while the male member has an enlarged part which can be passed through the larger eyelet of the first member, and a smaller part which can slide along the narrow slot so as to bring the enlarged part into engagement with the smaller eyelet, the male member has a separate part in the form of a separate link coupled directly or indirectly thereto and of such a size as to slide along the slot. In the form shown in Figs. 1, 5 and 9, the male member comprises a hook 4 of flat material, and a ring 5. Ring 5 and hook 4 are passed through the eyelet 8 of the female member, and the chain lowered until one of the long links 2 is opposite the slot 9. A long link will pass therethrough, but not a short link 3, owing to the dependant flanges bordering the slot. In fully engaged position, the hook 4 engages the smaller eyelet 6. In the form shown in Fig. 11, one or other of the long links 12 can be passed through the slot between the eyelets of the female member but the end ring 10 will not pass the small eyelet. In another construction, Figs. 17, 18, the hook 16 has a cross-pin 19 which cannot pass through the small eyelet 17 of the female member, and is connected to a chain &c. by a link 20 small enough to pass sideways through the slot 21.
