[Class 46] [Also in Group XXVIII] A filter assembly comprises a mounting member, a block carried by the mounting member and. having separate inlet and discharge conduits, a filter unit having an inlet opening and a discharge conduit with a filtering medium between them, and means for detachably securing the filter unit to the mounting member by a relative rotary movement so that liquid to be filtered may pass through the inlet conduit in the block and into the filter unit through its inlet opening, and filtered liquid may pass through the discharge conduit in the unit to the discharge conduit in the block. As shown, a cup member 10. Fig. 1, has in its base a cylindrical block 20 having an inlet channel 25, and an outlet channel 27, to the upper end of which is attached a conical plug 29. A casing 32 is provided with a recess 34 which fits the plug 20, space being left between the flange 35 and the plug 29. Cotton waste 40 is packed round a perforated outlet tube 36 between a resilient diaphragm 38 and a second plate or diaphragm 41, the whole enclosed in a corrugated cylinder of perforated cardboard 43. Tongues 47, Fig. 2, are provided on the casing 32 engaging with lips 45 on the cup 10, so that when the casing 32 is inserted in the cup and turned, bayonetfashion, the recess 34 engages the block 20, and the outlet tube 36 is forced into close contact with the plug 29 by the resilient diaphragm 38. A sealing ring 24 is provided. A stop 49, which may be raised by the finger, prevents accidental disengagement of the parts.
