[Class 20(iii)] In a folding-sliding door composed of hinged pairs of narrow panels hinged at their outer edges to columns moving in guide tracks at top and bottom of the opening, each column 18 is a single extrusion in aluminium alloy with retroverted wings 22 on its inner flange 20 and oblique wings 23 on its outer flange 21 with end portions 24 at right angles, wings 23 being perpendicular to the plane of the panels when the door is fully extended. In this position the butt ends of the panels engage rubber strips 26 inserted in dovetail slots in wings 23. The panels comprise a framework of styles 3 connected by rails 10 and oblique braces 15 all of extruded channelled sections of alumimium alloy, and some or all of the transverse members having slots 14 in their webs, enabling the style flange 4 to lie inside the flange 12 of the slotted member on the inner face of the panel this flange abutting on a shoulder 5 of the style flange, whilst the outer flanges 11, 17 of all the transverse members lie inside the outer flange 8 of the styles. Heat-insulating material on the inner face is secured to the rail flanges 12 its upright edges butting against an extension 7 of the web 6 of the styles. The skin of the outer face of aluminium alloy is vertically corrugated and secured both to flanges 8 and 11 and 17. At the hinge joint between two panels the styles carry packing strips as of wood, one holding a rubber &c. strip which fits into a hollow in the other.
