Abstract

630,796. All-wing aircraft. FAUCHIER, R. L. Feb. 7, 1947, No. 3725. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1946. [Class 4] , An all-wing aircraft has in plan view, Fig. 2, the shape of an isosceles paralellogram which has its shorter base at the front and preferably a height such as to give the wing an aspect ratio of less than 0.5. The side edges of the wing are formed by substantially rectangular section bulges 6, Fig. 3, with their upper edges 7 raised above the surface of the mid-part of the wing 5, thereby providing a central guide passage for the airstream around the root of the fin 8 and rudder 9. The aerofoil section of the wing is part convex and part concave at the upper surface and wholly convex at the lower surface. In the Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 the leading edge of the wing plan as then shown in Fig. 2, was substantially semi-circular, and the underside of the crosssection, Fig. 3, was made slightly convex. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
