657,488. Hydroplanes; aircraft wings. CORLIEU, L. M. DE. Sept. 23, 1947, No. 25880. Convention date, Jan. 29, 1946. [Classes 4 and 113 (ii)] In a vessel adapted to travel through water under the action of conventional propulsion means, one or more supporting surfaces are provided, which are adapted to adjust themselves automatically to transient dynamic variations in the water, such surfaces being constructed to have a narrow stiff leading edge 1 and an extensive trailing portion 2 of progressively increasing flexibility. The portion 2 comprises flexible ribs 3 covered with an elastic skin. The surface is pivoted at 4 and an operating lever 5 serves to withdraw the device. The surfaces may be initially flat or smoothly curved and are mounted in transverse rows behind each other or in tiers one above the other. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the surfaces may be employed on aircraft. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
