Abstract
630,680. Transmitter telemotors. STERLING INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and THOMAS, P. E. May 29, 1946, No. 16361. [Class 69 (ii)] A hydraulic transmitter comprises a liquid reservoir 18 having a transmission cylinder 2 having an outlet 14 and containing a hollow piston 1 actuated by a rocker arm contacting rollers 7 on a shaft 5 connected to the piston 1. Slidably mounted on the piston 1 is a displacer element 10 connected by a spring 12 to the shaft 5. The hollow piston and displacer 10 form a liquid chamber 11. A non-return valve 15 is fitted in the end of the displacer 10 and a similar valve 4 in the piston 1 which, on the outward stroke of the piston, is opened by means of a spring-pressed plate 4<SP>2</SP>. Initially the displacer 10 contacts the end of the cylinder 2 when the piston 1 is operated and liquid is drawn into the chamber 11 through the valve 15. Continued operation charges the system through the connection 14 and the chamber 11 is charged with liquid under pressure and the displacer and piston operated as a unit. A bleed line may be connected from a distant point in the system to a point adjacent the reservoir 18.
