Abstract

909,881. Fluid-pressure operated blasting devices. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. Feb. 4, 1959 [Feb. 5, 1958], No. 3762/58. Class 9 (1). Apparatus for injecting liquid into coal as in Specification 769,575, comprises two or more interconnected cylinders 2, 3, through which extends a tube 10 carrying co-acting pistons 11, 12, ports 15, 16 in the tube being in communication with the cylinders. In addition, a deformable sleeve 22 is mounted between an abutment 19 carried by the tube and an abutment 9 carried by the cylinder 2, so that when liquid under pressure enters the tube 10, when the apparatus is in a borehole, the liquid passes into the cylinders and moves the pistons and tube relatively to the cylinders and by so doing deforms the sleeve 22 into contact with the borehole.
