Abstract

1307660 Percussive tools ETABS MONTABERT 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 25188/71 Addition to 1110622 Heading B4C An hydraulically-actuated percussive tool including a reciprocable piston 2 and a distributing valve 3 and operated in a manner similar to that described in parent Specification 1,110,622 comprises, instead of a spring (as in the parent Specification), at least one piston member 12 abutting one surface of the valve, the other end of the or each piston member being acted upon by the liquid in high-pressure circuit 4. The piston 2 also includes a rear chamber 9 which is in permanent communication, via tube 7 with low pressure circuit 5. The piston on its working stroke causes a reduction of pressure in the low-pressure circuit and in chamber 10 so as to reduce the forces tending to retain the valve 3 in the illustrated position. Thus the valve will move from its illustrated position to its other end position more rapidly than would have been possible had the pressure in the low pressure circuit and chamber 10 not been reduced.
