Abstract

630,650. Dynamo - electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. and OLDHAM, T. J. F. July 23, 1947, No. 19776. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVIII] An accelerometer comprises a Selsyn having a single-phase energized rotor R carried by a shaft X and a three-phase " stator " S journalled at Y<1>, Y<2> on the shaft and coupled by a coilspring T to a driving-collar G, keyed on the shaft whereby the inertia of the " stator " causes it to twist the spring and become displaced relatively to the rotor when the shaft is accelerated. A flywheel portion M is formed on the " stator " to increase its inertia. Connection to the windings is made through sliprings SR<1>, SR<2>. The output may be connected in known manner to a Selsyn indicator or a voltage proportional to the acceleration may be obtained from the live terminals of the " stator " in star-connection, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown).
