Abstract
630,621. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Jan. 23, 1947, No. 2156. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1943. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode for an electron discharge tube comprises a heater inside a conductive support on which the emissive layer is coated. This in turn is coated with an outer conductive layer, e.g. very thin nickel foil, wire gauze, or a helical wire, which outer layer is connected to a supply conductor. The inner conductive support is also connected to a supply conductor and a low p.d. not exceeding 10 volts is applied across the emissive layer, the outer layer being negative to the support.
