Abstract
630,288. Vehicle wheels. LAMBERT, H. E. April 9, 1947, No. 9366. [Class 144 (i)] A tractor wheel is formed by, or fitted with, a disc 1 having an outwardly-projecting rimportion 7 through which the spindles 9 of tread shoes 2 are radially and angularly adjustable. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the spindles 9 are secured by means of eyebolts 10 and nuts 13. When fitted at the side of an existing wheel, the shoes 2 may be inoperativelypositioned within, or projected beyond, the tread circle of the wheel tyre 17, and may be turned to straddle the latter. Figs. 6 and 7 show the disc 1 fitted with a collapsable rim which, in its expanded form, provides a continuous tyre for use on ordinary roads, comprising pairs of segments 18 hinged together and to the wheel disc. The free ends of the segments 18 have pin-and-slot connections with floating segments 19 fitted with hexagonalsection pins 25 which are slidably engaged in collars 26 housed in slots in the wheel disc. The pins 25 are locked in adjusted position by spring-pressed plungers co-operating with selected holes in the pins.
