Abstract

555,472. Vehicle wheels. CUNDEY, J. E., CUNDEY, W. B., and CUNDEY, E. G. Nov. 19, 1942, No. 16357. [Class 144 (i)] In a tractor wheel comprising a pair of spaced ring members 10 connected together by tread strakes 11, the metal wheel spokes 13 are connected to one of the ring members 10 only, and radially adjustable spuds 17 are mounted on at least some of the strakes 11 for projection beyond, or retraction flush with, the strakes as required. As shown, square-section strakes 11 are secured across the ring members to lie at an angle to the wheel plane such that adjacent strakes overlap in a circumferential direction to minimise vibration on road travel.
