630,135. Variable pitch propellers. BREGUET, L. July 30, 1946, No. 22740. .Convention date, Aug. 11, 1944. [Class 114] In a propeller of the type in which the pitchvarying worms are actuated by a differential gear, the action of the differential is controlled by the shaft 6 through a gear-box from the engine-driven shaft 5. The speeds of the planet cages are controlled by two circulating pumps 50, 53 driven from these cages, throttling of the pump outputs causing movement of the cages and hence of the shaft 6. Rise in pressure in the pumps closes clutch 64 and so drives a pitch indicating and limit stop shaft 60. The device is controlled electrically by switches 98, 101, the former being operated to give hand control through the lever 76, which moves valve 75 to close the outlet of either pump 50 or 53 as desired. Switch 101 can be positioned as desired on contacts 102, 103 ... 107, and the necessary pump outlet closed until the pitch angle required is reached, when cams driven from the shaft 60 break the circuit of either solenoid 88, 109, releasing the valves 87, 89 to open the pump circuits.
