Abstract

630,087. Brakes. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION, and WARDLEY, F. W. Nov. 27, 1946, No. 35180. Addition to 579,172. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 9, 1947.] [Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] A disc brake comprises a lined friction member 14, having less than a full continuous annulus of lining material 36, a plurality of circumferentially spaced axially extending torque-taking keys 40 and an annular friction disc 12 adapted frictionally to engage the lined member 14. The annular disc 12 is composed of a number of separate segments 34 connected by pairs of links 56 which permit substantially free individual expansion of the segments 34 under heat which hold them against relative displacement in an axial direction to prevent the edges of the segments striking the linings 36.
