Abstract

768,856. Brake linings. DEMAG-ZAG GES. Nov. 9, 1954 [Nov. 14, 1953], No. 32444/54. Class 103 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] In a friction lining for brakes or clutches, the friction lining, instead of being riveted or bonded to the support member, is connected to its support member by an elastic intermediate layer which bears on its support with initial tension, the material of the intermediate layer having a higher co-efficient of friction than the material used as the friction lining. The initial tension of the intermediate layer required for this purpose is achieved by providing the inner diameter slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the support and by providing the outer diameter of the intermediate layer slightly larger than the inner diameter of the friction lining. Figs. 1-3 illustrate a number of examples applied to a cone brake or clutch, the disc 1 supporting the elastic intermediate layer 2 which is pressed on to the disc and a friction lining 3 which is pressed on to the intermediate layer. Specification 725,588 is referred to.
