788,040. Disc brakes. LAMBERT BRAKE CORPORATION. April 19, 1956 [Oct. 17, 1955], No. 11960/56. Class 103 (1). A friction brake comprises first 35 and second 25 coaxial relatively rotatable members, a first friction element 97 fixed against rotation relatively to the first member 35 but shiftable axially thereof into and out of frictional engagement with a second friction element 87 fixed against rotation relatively to the second member 25, a backing plate 84 fixed against rotation relatively to the second member 25 and located to that side of said first friction element 97 remote from said second friction element 87, a primary actuator plate 92 between said backing plate 84 and said first friction element 97, primary camming means 94 between said primary actuator plate 92 and said backing plate 84 for forcing these plates axially apart in response to relative rotation between such plates thereby to shift the first friction element 97 into frictional engagement with the second friction element 87 and to grip said first friction element 97 between the second friction element 87 and the primary actuator plate 92, said camming means 94 floatingly supporting said primary actuator plate 92 upon the backing plate 84 and actuating means 101, 104, 129 for shifting said primary actuator plate 92 axially of said backing plate 84.
