Abstract

629,752. Fusible cut-outs. LINE EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and JACKSON, H. P. Nov. 17, 1947, No. 30451. [Class 38 (i)] In a fusible cut-out of the kind wherein an enclosure for the fusible element is closed by a frangible seal, ruptured on overload, the seal has a protective element such as a cap, disc or plug which so engages the enclosure-that it tends to be blown off when the seal is ruptured on a heavy overload. In the embodiment shown, the seal c is held between an annular endcap D and an extension E<SP>1</SP> of a contact ferrule E on the enclosure A of a fuse of the type described in Specification 601,717. The protective element F is in the form of a disc pressed into the opening in the cap and has gas openings Fl, F<SP>2</SP>, one of which is in line with a striker-pin B released to puncture the seal and serve as an indicator, when the fuse blows on normal overload.
