629,495. Clamps. ROSS, D. Nov. 6, 1947, No. 29626. [Class 61(ii)] A bar is held in a cylindrical or other shaped aperture b, Fig. 1, in the body a of a clamp by a sliding sleeve g having two diametrically opposite recesses g<SP>1</SP> each adapted to register with substantially one half of the aperture and urged into contact with the bar by a nut h on the reduced screw-threaded end a<SP>3</SP> of the body. The edges of the recess g are toothed or notched and the part of the body taking the sleeve is reduced in diameter to render the cup-shaped sleeve a flush with the general surface. In Fig. 7, a clamp with a second aperture perpendicular to the first and a similar sleeve g and nut h is used to clamp a vice e to the bar f of a stand f<SP>1</SP>. The two apertures may be parallel or at any inclination.
