670,777. Pencil holders. TURNER, W. A. July 20, 1949 [June 25, 1948], No. 17198/48. Class 146 (iii). A holder for pencil leads comprises a hollow barrel 1 screwed internally at each end at 2 to receive a threaded portion 3 of a gripper having a stem 5 terminating in a conical shoulder 6. The gripper is slit radially at 8 so that a sleeve 10 on the stem 5 exerts a clamping action on the gripper when it is screwed into the end of the barrel. The sleeve 10 may be knurled and the gripper jaws may be serrated. Spare leads may be stored within the barrel 1.
