Abstract

618,216. Plumb-bobs. C.I.D.U., Ltd., and SAMUELY, M. Nov. 4, 1946, No. 32673. [Class 97 (ii)] A plumb-bob comprises a stemlike body 1 provided at one end with a socket 6 for receiving a pointed member 4, the socketed end of the body having longitudinal slits 2 forming a plurality of jaws 3 which are externally screw-threaded to receive a clamping sleeve 7. The needle socket 6 lies along the longitudinal axis of the body 1 so that the inserted needle has its axis lying on the straight line passing through the centre of gravity of the bob and the point of the bob at which the plumb line enters. A central slit 10 may be provided for the line 12, which, when not in use, is wound round the body 1 as shown, a cross-slit 13 leading the line 12 from the slit 10 for this purpose.
