[Class 64(iii)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXVIII] In a superheater return bend of the type in which several small diameter flow tubes 1-4 &c. are connected to a common return tube 5, a union 6 with an open end 7 is forged from the ends of two flow tubes 2, 4 and the return tube 5 and a return bend 9 is forged from the ends of two more flow tubes 1, 3 and a short tube 8 of smaller diameter than the return tube 5, the tube 8 being welded at 10 in the open end 7. In a modification, Fig. 6, the end portion of the tube 8 may be coned at 11 to form an injector and the union 6 may be arcuate as at 12. Any even number of flow tubes may be assembled by interposing a requisite number of unions similar to 6 but with a short tube similar to 8 of diameter intermediate to the tubes 5 and 8 so that the cross-sectional area is proportional to the quantity of steam flowing therethrough.
