Class 29 [Also in Group XXIX] A device for metering the flow in a refrigerator circulating system comprises a tube A of ductile metal which is flattened for a portion B of its length to provide a narrow passage and the flattened portion is then helically twisted along the axis of the tube. As shown, the tube A is immovably held in upstanding arms at the end of a frame C, and the middle of the flattened portion B is engaged by a nut G with cylindrical extensions which are positioned in tubes F secured in arms E upstanding from the frame C. The cross sectional area of the passage through the flattened portion B is thus varied by rotating nut G to adjust the amount of twist. In making the device, the nut is first cast on to the tube and the frame then cast thereon.
