768,464. Making heat exchanger tubes; soldering. GALLAY, Ltd. June 24, 1955 [Oct. 25, 1954], No. 30752/54. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XIII] A heat exchanger element is made by threading a wire of solder 15 together with a binding wire 13 through the coils of a coiled wire 12, wrapping the assembly helically around a tube 11, applying heat, e.g. in an oven, to liquefy the solder and cooling. The ends of the wire 13 are secured to the tube 11 where the wire is threaded through holes 14 in the tube and the ends of the solder wire are also secured to the tube. The tube 11 and wire 12 may be of light alloy, e.g. aluminium, the binding wire may be of stainless steel and the solder wire may be an aluminium silicon solder.
