Abstract

627,342. Rectifying ; automatic regulation. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. March 27, 1947, No. 8342. Convention date, March 30, 1946. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv)] The output volts of a supply system are stabilized by feeding the D.C. windings of chokes in the system with current from an auxiliary rectifier supplied from the series connected secondary windings of saturated and non-saturated transformers, the primary windings of which are connected in parallel, through a condenser and directly respectively, to the A.C. supply. A six-phase rectifier system supplying arc carbons 19, comprises three valves 13, 14, 15 fed from the six secondaries 11, 12, connected through interphase transformers 16, of a transformer with secondaries 7, 8, 9 supplied from input terminals 1, 2, 3 through chokes 4, 5, 6. These chokes have D.C. windings 20, 21, 22 supplied in series from an auxiliary rectifier 24 which is connected to the series connected secondaries 25, 26 of saturable and non-saturable transformers 27, 28. The primaries of these transformers are supplied in parallel from A.C. terminals 1, 2. A condenser 30 is in the supply to the primary of the saturable transformer 27. The D.C. magnetizing current may be altered by a variable resistance 23.
