864,219. Transformers; rectifying. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Aug. 7, 1959 [Aug. 8, 1958], No. 27095/59. Class 38 (2). A controllable rectifier arrangement providing a variable voltage wherein the coarse regulation of voltage may be effected by adjusting the tappings of a tapped transformer is provided with a transductor for effecting fine adjustment between tappings. As shown a polyphase rectifier arrangement 4 is fed from a main transformer 1 and a booster transformer 2 the primary windings of which are fed from a tapped autotransformer 6 having tappings 7. The transductors, which are returned to an initial setting on moving from one tapping to the next, may be in series with the autotransformer as shown at 10, or with the primary windings of the main transformer as at 10<SP>1</SP>, or as shown at 10<SP>11</SP> with the secondary windings of transformer 2. The booster transformer may be dispensed with, the main transformer itself being tapped.
