820,639. Transformer arrangements. PERKIN-ELMER CORPORATION. July 3, 1956 [July 7, 1955], No. 20541/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). A potential dividing system comprises an autotransformer tapped at various points to given discrete voltage steps by operation of a tap changing switch, the switch being associated with the adjusting element of a crossed coil type of variometer having two secondary windings, the operation of the tap changing switch and the variometer adjusting element being such that the association of the voltage tapped off the autotransformer and the voltages derived from the two secondary windings of the variometer give a voltage variation which is substantially linear with respect to the angular adjustment of the variometer.
