Abstract

626,623. Loudspeakers. MURPHY RADIO, Ltd., and BALEAN, J. H. Sept. 15, 1945, Nos. 23860/45 and 27739/46. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL (b)] As shown in Fig. 1, a loudspeaker 1 has arranged behind its diaphragm a roll of corrugated cardboard or plastic 3 forming an assemblage of tubular channels parallel to the axis of the loudspeaker for attenuating the lowfrequency sound waves. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), two rolls of corrugated material are fitted, the rolls being spaced apart axially to leave an air space. In a second embodiment, Fig. 6, a number of juxtaposed corrugated sheets 9 having graded internal openings 10, 11, 12 are assembled with the tubular channels extending horizontally or vertically at right-angles to the loudspeaker axis.
