Abstract
625,384. Crankshafts. NORTON MOTORS, Ltd., and HOPWOOD, H. July 26, 1947, No. 20202. [Class 80 (ii)] In a single-throw built-up crankshaft for a parallel twin-cylinder internal-combustion engine, wherein flanges 3 on crankpin halves 2 are bolted to opposite sides of a central flywheel 4, the crankpin flanges 3 are substantially concentric with the crankpins. A smaller outer peripheral arc of the webs is concentric with the inside of the flywheel-rim to fit therein, and there is a single locating dowel 7 coaxial with the shaftaxis. An opening 10 in the flywheel forms part of the lubricating duct to big-end feeds 12, and reduces the size of the balance-mass 13 required.
