Abstract

625,175. Locks. JENSEN, M. Jan. 28, 1947, No. 2648. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1943. [Class 44] In a lock of the kind having a latch controlled by a permutation lock operated by a group of pushbuttons or other adjustable elements and by pressure on an opening lever, and having cancellation mechanism co-operating with the latch so that movement of the latter causes the push-buttons to return to neutral position, the co-operating parts of the latch and of the cancellation mechanism are adapted to co-operate to effect cancellation during the locking movement of the latch if such cancellation has not previously taken place. In the form shown, a latch 1, housed in an annular casing 3, and operated by a thumb piece 2, being biassed by a spring in the direction of the arrow A to open the lock and freed to open by a lever 4 which is pushed down after the push-buttons 5 have been set to the correct combination. According to the invention, the lock is provided with a cancellation lever 7 which when pressed downwardly puts all the push-buttons in neutral position, and is connected with an arm 9 having a lug 10 intended to be struck by a projection 11 on the latch at the end of the opening movement of the latter and so move arm 9 to effect cancellation. If the latch is dirty or worn, and does not effect cancellation in this way, a lug 12 on the latch strikes a lug 13 on an arm 15 which is connected to the cancellation mechanism. When the latch is being projected by means 'of the thumb piece 2, lug 12 makes contact with lug 13, swings lever 15 downwardly, and consequently moves cancellation lever 7 by contact of a lug 16 on lever 15 with lever 7. On the opening of the lock, lever 15 is pushed up idly by contact of lug 12 with the under side of lug 13.
