625,087. Gas turbines. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd.. and HAWTHORNE, W. R. April 13, 1945, No. 9323. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110(iii)] In a three-stage continuous combustion gas turbine in which the low-pressure turbine drives the low-pressure compressor,. the intermediate turbine drives the intermediate compressor and the high-pressure turbine drives the high-pressure compressor, these parts are disposed serially along their common axis in the following order:-the low-pressure turbine, the lowpressure compressor, the intermediate compressor, the intermediate turbine, the high-pressure turbine and the highpressure compressor. The ductings connecting the intermediate and high-pressure compressor surround the intermediate and high-pressure turbines and the ductings connecting the intermediate and lowpressure turbines surround the intermediate and low-pressure compressors. Reheating combustion may be provided between the turbine stages and cooling between the compressor stages. Useful power may be taken off any compressor turbine or a separate power turbine may be provided. The energy of the exhaust may be used for jet-propulsion. Specification 478,688 is referred to.
