Abstract

624,340. Dynamo electric machines. MIDGLEY, A. H. July 4, 1947, No. 17669. [Class 35] A small motor or generator, principally for use in toys, has an armature with a coil or coils coaxial with its axis of rotation and polepieces co-operating with alternate field magnet poles around it. Figs. 1 and 4 show an armature with a single coil h wound about a core on a spindle g and having segmental polepieces k co-operating with field magnet poles a which are magnetized by a coil e on a yoke d. The members a are carried by suitable end frames b and are spaced apart by a bracket f providing, with one of the end frames, bearings for the armature. An insulating plate I carries the commentator brushes n and terminals, and may also carry a switch m. Fig. 6 shows an armature with two coaxial coils s, t and three polepieces o, p, r co-operating with a ring field member v permanently magnetized across a diameter.
