622,930. Fan installations for furnaces. MELDRUMS, Ltd., and WRIGHT, A. N. March 8, 1946, No. 7290. [Class 51 (i)] A device for supplying air to the combustion chamber of a furnace comprises an axial flow fan 14 and a motor 16 mounted transversely of the chamber in a casing 15 having a pivoted section 23 to give access through the air opening 24 to the fire, control of the air supply being by a plate 26 sliding on the cylinder 29 attached to the casing by the arms 31, said plate being adjusted by engagement of the pin 28 in the helical groove 29. According to the Provisional Specification the air flow may be controlled by an iris diaphragm in the annular space formed between the motor 16 and the casing. 15. The device is shown applied to a Lancashire or Cornish boiler as in Specification 622,738.
