Abstract

622,161. Couplings. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 25, 1947, No. 5473. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1946. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A terminal structure for a sheathed heating element having base metal terminals 4 at the conductor ends, comprises a tightlyfitting conductive tube 6 surrounding the projecting portion of each terminal and an adjacent section thereof within the sheath, a compacted mass of insulating material 3 embedding the conductor 1 and the sections of the terminal and tube 6 within the sheath. The material of the tube 6 possesses characteristics not present in the metal of the terminal 4, e.g. for steel terminals, the surrounding tubes may be of stainless steel, nickel, nickel - chromium - iron alloys, nickel - copper alloys, silver, or copper. The heater after assembly is swaged, rolled or drawn. Specifications 619,438, [Group XI], and 621,868 are referred to.
