[Class 110(iii)] In a gas turbine installation using producer gas, the producer is operated at a pressure higher than that of the gas turbine combustion chamber. The air for the producer q is taken from the delivery of the compressor d, which supplies air to the gas turbine combustion chamber l, and is further compressed in the compressor n of a charging unit u, n, x. The turbine u expands the producer gas down to the pressure in the combustion chamber l. The main turbine c drives the compressor d and an electric generator e. Starters g, x, are provided for the two sets. In a turbine plant with two stages and reheating between the stages, the producer gas is expanded in separate turbines down to the pressures of the two combustion chambers, or, in one turbine provided with a bleed for the gas led to the high-pressure combustion chamber. The charging unit may provide useful power in a separate electric generator or through a shaft coupling with the main set.
