[Class 51 (ii)] In a baker's oven of the type disclosed in Specification 526,670, steam admitted into one chamber is prevented from diffusing into the other by withdrawing atmosphere under suction at the rear of the oven, from either the second chamber or from both of said chambers. A single aperture 9, Fig. 1, located in the rear wall has a pivoted arcuate damper 10 controlled by a hand wheel 10a so that in the mid-position openings 9a and 9b are provided, or alternatively the aperture may be totally closed by the valve in its mid-position. The single aperture may be replaced by a double aperture and a flue 12 is connected either to a chimney or a fan and has a break-draught damper 13. In one modification the single aperture is controlled by a double section arcuate valve in which the separately controlled sections slide over one another and in another an additional dampered aperture is provided in the roof towards the rear of the oven. In a further modification, Fig. 5, in which the extracted atmosphere is recirculated, a transverse conduit 9c with slot 9d controlled as above, delivers atmosphere gases either to a chimney 17 or an inlet conduit 16 or both under control of the fan 12a and dampers 17a and 18 respectively. According to the first Provisional Specification the height and longitudinal position of the transverse conduit 9c and the angular position of the slot 9d may be adjustable.
