Abstract

621,567. Trueing grinding-wheels. SHEFFIELD CORPORATION. March 1, 1946, No. 6389. Convention date, March 2, 1945. [Class 60] A grinding-machine including a rotatable forming crusher comprises a support for the crusher, means for causing a rotation of the crusher about a pivot axis of the support, means for causing bodily movement of the crusher in said support, one means being for adjustment of distance between the crusher and the grinding wheel and the other means being for feeding the crusher into the grinding wheel, and means for sequentially controlling the said rotation and the said bodily movement. In a centreless grinder having a grinding wheel 10 and a control wheel 11 a crushing wheel device 29, constructed and arranged to operate as described in Specification 602,641, is pivoted at 27 in a fixed bracket 26 on the main frame of the machine. An electric circuit is so arranged that by closing a switch the crusher device 29 is first swung, by means of a motor 32, worm 31 and gear 30, and the crushing roller fed, to form or true the control wheel 11, and then swung over and automatically moved to crush the grinding wheel 10. The grinding wheel only may be crushed by moving the switch to another position thus permitting the grinding wheel to be trued more frequently than the control wheel.
