Abstract
621,222. Centrifugal pot spinning-machines. DOBSON & BARLOW, Ltd., and HARTLEY, W. July 27, 1946, No. 22443. [Class 120 (ii)] A rayon pot spinning-machine of the kind in which centrifugal pots are mounted on the tops of vertical.spindles driven by electric motors is provided with a circular container in two parts, the larger upper part 1 enclosing the pot 2 and having a central hole 5 in its bottom 4 to receive the spindle 6, and the lower part 7 housing the motor 9, the entire unit being supported on the machine frame 12 by a flexible mounting located at the bottom of the top part. The flexible mounting may comprise a rubber ring 13 resting on the frame 12 or on another rubber ring 14, or spaced rubber studs, or a gimbal mounting may be used. Where the mounting is not a continuous ring, a rubber ring or curtain ring may be used to form a seal to prevent spinning liquid passing into the lower part of the container.
