[Class 64(i)] In a gas-heated water-heater in which a vertical combustion chamber g surmounted by a hot gas passage has a burner (not shown) at its lower end and both chamber and passage are surrounded by a hollow wall and an annular water chamber a, the hollow wall is packed wholly or partly with graphite or carbon h in order to minimize the condensation of water vapour on the inner surface of the combustion chamber g and hot gas passage. The annular water chamber a is formed by inner and outer cylindrical shells b, c of metal such as copper and the hollow wall is formed by a cylindrical lining d, preferably of corrosion-resisting steel. The hollow wall may be divided into two by a stopping i, the upper part only being filled with carbon or graphite. Radial fins e are provided. Specification 570,770 is referred to.
