619,985. Ladders. GOOSEY, T. S. Oct. 8, 1946, No. 30055. [Class 20(ii)] A ladder comprises a pair of side members each consisting of a pair of spaced metal tubes 12 united at intervals by plates 13 having holes to receive rungs 14. Two or more ladders, each of different width, to nest within each other may be connected by clips to form an extending ladder (Figs. 3, 4, not shown). The ends of the tubes 12 may be joined by semi - circular pieces 15, 16. To prevent slipping, the lower pieces 16 may have spikes or may be covered with non-slip material. The sides of the ladder may diverge at the bottom to give greater stability. The rungs, which may be metal tubes or bars, may be covered with non- slip material. The rungs may be welded to the plates 13. The sides and rungs may be subjected to a rust-proofing treatment before or after assembly. The sides, rungs and plates may be made of steel or aluminium alloy.
