Abstract

619,266. Saddles and seats for cycles. FERIDAX, Ltd., and FERRIDAY, J. R. Nov. 29, 1946, No. 35393. [Classes 136 (i) and 136 (iii)] In a saddle or pillion seat or combined saddle and pillion seat the front and rear ends are provided with bonded rubber to metal attachment members adapted to be connected directly or indirectly to parts of a motor cycle and to operate as elastic shock-absorbing connections. The combined saddle and pillion seat comprises a base-plate 1 having a central arch section 18 with horizontal seat flanges 19 on each side and a sponge rubber pad having a saddle part 2 and pillion part 3. A plate 7 is adjustably clamped to the underside of the front end of the base-plate 1 and has an upwardly directed extension 12. A rubber block 13 is sandwiched between and bonded to the extension 12 and a plate 14 which is provided with a pair of bolts 15 engaged by a reversible anchorage bracket 16 secured to the motor cycle. A mudguard clamping strip 21 is provided at the rear of the base-plate 1 beneath the arch 18. Clamping brackets 22 are bolted at 23 to the side flanges 19 and rubber blocks 24 are bonded to and sandwiched between vertical legs 25 of the clamping brackets 22 and mudguard clamping strips 21. The base-plate 1 is provided with a boundary channel 4 for a bead 5 on the lower edge of the rubber pad 2, 3. Specification 510,738 is referred to.
